This is qualitatively consistent with the torque balance model between the electromagnetic and poloidal viscous torques. In a configuration of the LHD, the dependence of the threshold on the density is qualitatively similar to that in Ohmic tokamak plasmas, but the beta dependence is opposite to that of tokamaks.
